Chapter 3: The Price of Power

“Let her go,” Dominic said.

Grayson straightened, clinging to the last scraps of authority. “You walk into my house—”

“This isn’t your house tonight.”

The words landed like a verdict.

Grayson laughed, but it was hollow. “You think you can intimidate me? I own half this state.”

Dominic tilted his head slightly.

“Then tonight,” he said, “you’ll learn the difference between owning people… and thinking you do.”

Another nod.

Two of Dominic’s men stepped forward and pulled Grayson’s hand away from Harper.

Grayson resisted for half a second.

It was enough.

One movement. One twist.

A sharp crack echoed in the room.

Grayson screamed.

Paige gasped. Celeste covered her mouth in horror.

Dominic didn’t react.

“You hurt her,” he said simply.

And that was all the explanation anyone received.

Downstairs, the recordings continued—evidence spilling into the open like a wound that refused to close.

Bank transfers.

Threats.

Bribes.
