Later that night, the mansion felt different.
Quieter.
Heavier.
The Man in Suit stood alone in his study, a glass untouched in his hand.
A knock came.
Soft.
“Come in.”
The Elderly Woman was wheeled in slowly by a caretaker, then left alone with him.
For a long moment, neither spoke.
“You saw it,” she said finally.
“I did.”
“And?”
He exhaled slowly.
“She crossed a line.”
The Elderly Woman shook her head gently.
“No. She revealed one.”
That landed deeper than expected.
“She protected me,” the Elderly Woman continued. “Not because she had to. Because she chose to.”
The Man in Suit stared at the floor.
Memory flickered behind his eyes.
Loyalty.
Courage.
Things that couldn’t be bought.
“Find her,” the Elderly Woman said.
