CHAPTER 1: THE FIRST MOVE

Harrison didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he stood, walked to the window, and stared out at Manhattan’s endless grid of lights.

“When someone tries to destroy you,” he said finally, his voice calm and precise, “you don’t react emotionally.”

He turned back to her.

“You respond strategically.”

Khloe swallowed hard. “I don’t want revenge, Harry. I just want my baby safe.”

“And you will have that,” he replied. “But safety requires control—and right now, you have none.”

He slid a legal folder across the desk.

“From this moment forward, we do everything my way.”

Inside were documents already prepared.

Emergency financial protections. Asset freezes. Medical guardianship clauses. A private security contract.

Khloe blinked. “You already had these ready?”

Harrison’s expression didn’t change.

“I’ve been expecting something like this since your second miscarriage.”

Her breath caught.

“You knew?”

“I suspected,” he corrected. “Now I know.”

He leaned forward, his voice lowering.

“Richard thinks he’s ahead. He thinks he’s smarter. That’s his first mistake.”

“And the second?” Khloe whispered.

Harrison’s eyes darkened.

“He forgot who you belong to.”

By midnight, everything had changed.

Khloe was moved into a private residence under Harrison’s protection.

Every account Richard had touched was flagged.

Every offshore transfer was being traced.
