Chapter 6 - The Destination

At the end of the long, pristine white aisle, the groom stood waiting beneath the beautiful floral archway.
He had spent the entire morning battling the typical, wonderful nervousness of a man about to pledge his forever.
Now, bathed in the soft late-afternoon sunlight, his focus was entirely meant to be on his beautiful bride.
He watched Clara glide gracefully toward him, her backless white gown looking absolutely stunning against the natural landscape.
However, he quickly noticed that the emotional atmosphere of the ceremony had shifted in a beautifully unexpected way.
Instead of displaying tears of quiet reverence, the diverse, well-dressed guests were softly chuckling and holding up their smartphones.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to see past the bright reflections of the golden afternoon sun.
That was when he finally spotted the tiny, barefoot passenger sitting proudly on his bride's magnificent silk train.
Little Leo was still clapping his hands, fully embracing his role as the joyful, unscripted star of the procession.
The groom felt a wave of profound, genuine joy wash over him, completely erasing any lingering wedding day anxiety.
He let out a rich, warm laugh that carried perfectly over the gentle, sweeping melody of the string quartet.
"I see we have an uninvited groomsman," he said, his voice projecting a gentle, natural humor.
Clara finally reached the front of the seating area, carefully coming to a graceful stop just steps away from the altar.
The heavy, luxurious silk of the exceptionally long train settled softly onto the neatly manicured grass.
The magical, moving carpet ride had officially come to an end for the one-year-old boy.
Leo sat perfectly still for a brief second, his bright eyes blinking as he processed the sudden lack of forward motion.
He patted the soft white fabric with his small hands, as if trying to politely request that the wonderful ride start up again.
When the pristine material remained stubbornly stationary, he simply looked up at the towering adults surrounding him.

His infectious joy never wavered, and his face retained that wonderfully pure, cinematic realism.
He simply let out another happy, breathy giggle that echoed beautifully in the intimate outdoor space.
