Chapter 7 - The Gentle Retrieval

The sudden stillness of the majestic white train did not dampen little Leo's spirits in the slightest.

He remained happily seated on the luxurious silk, kicking his bare feet playfully against the thick layers of fabric.

From the third row of the beautifully arranged Chiavari chairs, a flustered woman in a pale blue dress hurried forward.

It was Leo's mother, her face flushed with a wonderfully relatable mixture of profound embarrassment and unavoidable amusement.

She navigated carefully along the edge of the manicured grass, keeping her head slightly bowed in a quiet apology.

"I am so incredibly sorry, Clara," she whispered frantically as she approached the altar.

Clara turned fully toward her friend, her radiant smile completely untouched by any trace of annoyance or stress.

The soft late-afternoon sunlight highlighted the genuine, warm micro-expressions of pure understanding on the beautiful bride's face.

"Please do not apologize," Clara replied softly, her voice carrying a tone of deep, authentic affection.

"He just gave everyone here the absolute best wedding entrance I could have ever asked for."

The groom nodded in total agreement, taking a small, relaxed step forward to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his bride.

"Honestly, I think he wore that miniature beige suit better than half my groomsmen," the groom joked, his eyes crinkling with natural humor.

A ripple of quiet, appreciative laughter spread effortlessly through the diverse crowd of seated guests.

Leo's mother exhaled a long, heavy breath of relief, her shoulders dropping as the anxious tension instantly left her body.

She knelt down gracefully onto the soft lawn and reached out to gently scoop up her adventurous little boy.

Leo let out another breathy giggle as he was securely hoisted upward, his tiny hands immediately reaching out to grab a stray lock of his mother's hair.

He did not fuss or cry at being removed from his beautiful, makeshift silk sled.

Instead, he rested his warm cheek comfortably against his mother's shoulder, perfectly content with his brief, glorious moment of absolute stardom.
