“The Hidden Hospital File”

Esteban drives through the storm to an abandoned private clinic on the outskirts of the city. The building is half-closed, flickering lights struggling against the rain.
Inside, silence.
A night nurse recognizes him immediately.
“Mr. Esteban…?” she says, uneasy.
“I need the old records,” he replies, voice low. Controlled. But breaking underneath.
Minutes later, she places a dusty file on the desk.
HOSPITAL ARCHIVE — YOHANDRA M.
Esteban opens it.
Medical notes. Emergency delivery. Complications. Financial refusal. Transfer denial.
And one final line:
“Patient discharged without consent due to unpaid critical care fees.”
His breath stops.
“You sent her away…” he whispers.
The nurse looks down. “It wasn’t my decision.”
But Esteban is no longer listening.
Inside the file — a birth certificate copy.
Father: ESTEBAN R.
He closes his eyes.
