CHAPTER 2 — The Truth Her Father Buried

The next morning, the mansion buzzed with whispers.

Servants avoided Harper’s gaze. Guards watched her like she was a liability, not a bride.

And Enzo? He disappeared into his office with one order:

“Bring me everything on Whitcomb. Everything he didn’t want found.”

By noon, the truth began to surface.

Harper wasn’t raised in luxury.

She was contained in it.

Medical records hidden under shell companies. Boarding schools she never attended. Staff paid to lie.

And then… the reports Enzo couldn’t ignore.

“Behavioral correction.”

“Isolation protocols.”

“Noncompliance penalties.”

Enzo’s jaw tightened as he read.

Her father hadn’t protected her.

He had controlled her.

And when she became inconvenient?

He handed her over like damaged goods.

May you like

Not as leverage.

But as disposal.
