Whitcomb didn’t stay silent.

Men came in the night.

Armed. Precise. Sent to retrieve what he believed still belonged to him.

But Enzo was ready.

Gunfire shattered the stillness of the estate. Glass broke. Alarms screamed.

Harper woke to chaos—until Enzo burst into her room.

“Stay behind me,” he ordered.

Not cold. Not cruel.

Protective.

They moved through hidden corridors as Enzo’s men secured the house.

And when it was over…

When the last intruder was dragged away—

Enzo turned to her, breath heavy.

“He’s not coming for revenge,” Enzo said. “He’s coming to erase you.”

Harper swallowed hard. “Then why keep me?”

Enzo stepped closer—but stopped just short.

“Because someone should have chosen you a long time ago.”
