Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Adoption Papers

Hospital administration arrived within minutes.
Then came legal staff.
Then, quietly—but with unmistakable authority—
a man in a dark suit entered the room.
Judge Henry Vance.
Julia’s father.
His presence alone changed everything.
Evelyn stepped back as if she had seen a ghost.
“H-Henry…” she whispered.
But he didn’t even look at her.
His eyes went straight to Julia.
And softened.
“I got here as fast as I could,” he said gently.
Julia’s composure finally broke. Tears slipped down her face as she nodded.
“I’m okay now,” she whispered.
Then his gaze shifted—cold, sharp, unforgiving—to Evelyn.
“Explain yourself.”
Evelyn tried.
She really did.
“She’s unstable. She wasn’t fit to raise two children. I was protecting this family—”
“No,” Julia said, her voice stronger now. “You were protecting your secret.”
The room went still again.
Daniel frowned. “What secret?”
Julia took a slow breath.
Then she said the words that shattered everything.
“The baby you wanted… isn’t Daniel’s.”
Silence.
Total silence.
Daniel staggered back. “What are you talking about?”
Julia looked at him—not with anger, but with something sadder.
“Before we got married, your mother forced me into a legal agreement. If I ever had twins… one child would be claimed by the Vance estate.”
Daniel blinked in disbelief. “That’s insane.”
Julia shook her head.
“It’s not insane. It’s calculated.”
She turned toward Judge Vance.
“Tell him.”
The judge’s expression darkened.
“Years ago,” he said slowly, “Evelyn lost access to a family inheritance trust. The only way to reclaim control… was through a biological heir tied to my bloodline.”
Daniel’s eyes widened.
“And Julia…” he whispered.
“Is my daughter,” the judge confirmed.
Evelyn’s voice broke. “I had no choice! That trust is everything!”
“You tried to steal a child,” the judge said coldly. “You had every choice.”
Security stepped closer.
Evelyn looked around, desperate now.
