CHAPTER 2: Power Rewritten

The manager continued, his voice steady and professional.
“This property was acquired six months ago under a private holding. Renovations, event restructuring, and tonight’s ceremony were all personally funded and overseen by Ms. Mason.”

An owner.
A woman in control.
She stopped inches from Andrew.
“You asked me to apologize,” she said quietly. “Do you still want that?”
Andrew hesitated. His confidence—once so effortless—was gone.
“Clara… I didn’t know—”

Her voice sharpened.
“You didn’t know me. You didn’t try to.”
Patricia found her voice again. “Money doesn’t change what you are.”
Clara tilted her head slightly.
“You’re right,” she said. “It reveals it.”
Then she turned to the manager.
“Cancel the wedding.”

Andrew’s eyes widened. “Clara, wait—”
“No,” she said firmly. “There’s nothing left to wait for.”
