Hours later, exhausted and drenched, Elena found refuge under the dim awning of a closed café. Her body ached, and the weight of her pregnancy pressed heavily against her spine.

Just as she began to lose hope, headlights cut through the rain.

A woman stepped out of a modest car, holding an umbrella.

“You shouldn’t be out here,” she said gently.

Her name was Sofia.

Within minutes, Sofia had ushered Elena and her children into warmth—dry clothes, hot soup, and a small guest room that felt like heaven.
