Chapter 2: The Boardroom Reckoning

The boardroom fell silent the moment Isabella entered.
Men who once dismissed her now stood up.
Nervously.
Respectfully.
“Ms. Hale,” one of them began, “we weren’t aware—”
“That I owned you?” Isabella finished, taking her seat at the head of the table. “Yes. That seems to be a pattern.”
A few uncomfortable chuckles echoed.
She placed her hands on the table.
“Let’s not waste time,” she continued. “Effective immediately, Lucas Hale is removed as CEO.”
No one argued.
No one dared.
“Next,” she said, flipping through documents, “all executive privileges revoked. Accounts locked. Pending internal investigation.”
One board member hesitated. “And… the family?”
Isabella’s expression didn’t change.
“They’re no longer relevant.”
A pause.
Then a quiet, unanimous vote.
