CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH UNVEILED

The screen descended from the ceiling without warning.
A massive projection flickered to life above the ballroom, casting pale light over terrified faces.
“Attention,” her voice echoed—not from her lips, but from the system itself.
Every guest froze.
Even him.
“You’ve all spent years hiding behind wealth, influence, and silence,” the recording continued. “Tonight… you don’t get to hide.”
Clips began to play.
Grainy footage. Security tapes. Private recordings.
Deals made in shadows. Lives destroyed with signatures. Faces of victims no one in this room had ever bothered to remember.
Gasps. Denials. People backing away from each other.
“That’s fake!” someone shouted.
But it wasn’t.
He stared at the screen, his face draining of color.
One clip.
Then another.
Until finally—
Him.
Clear. Undeniable.
A moment he thought buried forever.
He staggered back. “No… no, you don’t understand—”
“Oh, I understand perfectly.”
She stepped into the center of the room now, no longer hiding in shadows. The crowd parted without thinking.
“You all thought power meant immunity,” she continued, her real voice now blending with the recording. “That no one would ever fight back.”
Her eyes found his.
“You were wrong.”
Sirens began faintly in the distance.
Not panic alarms.
Police.
Real ones.
“They’re coming?” someone whispered.
She nodded once.
“I didn’t lock you in to punish you,” she said calmly. “I locked you in so you couldn’t run.”
He shook his head, desperation taking over. “Listen to me—I can fix this. Whatever you want—money, protection—”
Her expression didn’t change.
“For once,” she said, stepping closer, “it’s not about what you can buy.”
The sirens grew louder.
May you like
And for the first time in his life—
He had nowhere to go.
