CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH UNFOLDS

The footage didn’t lie.

Within an hour, the study became a courtroom.

Screen after screen revealed the truth the girl had been too afraid to speak.

Orders barked.

Meals withheld.

Punishments disguised as “lessons.”

And worst of all—

Silence enforced through fear.

The father stood motionless as the final clip played: his daughter scrubbing the floor while the woman watched, smiling.

When the screen went black, the room felt colder than ever.

“Leave us,” he said.

Everyone obeyed instantly.

Now it was just the two of them.

The stepmother tried one last time. “You don’t understand. I was trying to—”

“To what?” he asked quietly.

She faltered.

He stepped closer, his voice dropping to something far more dangerous than anger.

“You were trying to erase her.”

Tears filled her eyes now, but they meant nothing.

“I trusted you,” he continued. “I gave you a place in this family.”

“And you turned my home into a place my own child feared.”

He exhaled slowly, then straightened.

“It’s over.”

Her breath caught. “What do you mean… over?”

“You will pack your things tonight,” he said. “By morning, you will be gone.”

“And if you try to contact her again—”

He didn’t finish the sentence.

He didn’t need to.

Because she already understood.

Everything she had built—

Was gone.
