CHAPTER 3: A NEW BEGINNING

The mansion felt different the next morning.
Quieter.
Lighter.
For the first time in a long time, the air didn’t feel heavy.
Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, touching the marble floors that no longer needed to be scrubbed by trembling hands.
The girl stood at the top of the staircase, hesitant.
“Hey,” her father said gently.
She looked down at him.
No anger.
No fear.
Just warmth.
He held out his hand.
“You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
She didn’t move at first.
Then slowly—
She stepped forward.
One step.
Then another.
Until her small hand slipped into his.
And this time…
She didn’t pull away.
Days turned into weeks.
The house changed.
Laughter slowly returned to rooms that had forgotten it.
A new routine formed—one built not on control, but care.
And the girl?
She began to smile again.
One evening, as they sat together watching the sunset, she leaned against him and whispered, “Are you going to leave again?”
His heart tightened.
“No,” he said softly. “Not like before.”
He kissed the top of her head.
“I’m here now.”
And this time—
He meant it.
Because being powerful meant nothing…
May you like
If you failed to protect what mattered most.
And he never would again.
