CHAPTER 3: A NEW BEGINNING

Morning light streamed gently through the hospital window.

The little girl stirred.

Her eyes fluttered open slowly.

Michael, who had stayed by her bedside all night, immediately leaned forward.

“Hey… easy,” he said softly.

She blinked up at him, confused but calm.

“Grandpa…?” she whispered weakly.

Michael smiled gently, though his eyes glistened.

“He’s right outside,” he said. “But… can I stay for a moment?”

She studied his face carefully.

There was something in his eyes—something warm and familiar.

“Okay…” she murmured.

Michael hesitated for a second… then reached for her small hand.

“My name is Michael,” he said softly. “And… I’m your dad.”

The room fell silent.

The little girl’s eyes widened slightly.

“My… dad?” she repeated.

He nodded, his voice trembling.

“I didn’t know about you before,” he admitted. “But if you let me… I want to be here for you. From now on.”

She stared at him for a long moment.

Then, slowly… she squeezed his hand.

“Will you leave again?” she asked quietly.

Michael shook his head immediately, tears slipping down his cheeks.

“Never,” he promised.

A small smile appeared on her face.

“Okay… Dad.”

At the door, the old man stood watching, his own eyes filled with tears—but this time, they were tears of peace.

A broken family… finally finding its way back together.

And for the first time in years—

May you like

They were no longer alone.

THE END.
