CHAPTER 3 â âTruth, After the Silenceâ

Security arrives quietly, called by one of the guests.
But the groom raises his hand again.
âNo police yet,â he says.
Everyone freezes.
He walks slowly toward the bride, stopping just a few feet away.
His voice is steady, but heavy:
âYou had every chance to tell me the truth before this moment.â
A long pause.
The brideâs eyes finally drop.
And then, barely above a whisper:
âI didnât want to lose you.â
Silence.
Not dramatic. Not theatrical.
Just human.
The groom exhales slowly, pain replacing shock.
He turnsânot away from her⊠but toward the maid.
âYou saved my life,â he says.
The maid looks down, overwhelmed.
In the final moment, the groom places the untouched glass on the table and gently pushes it away.
âI donât want revenge,â he says.
âI want everything to end here⊠honestly.â
Days later, the ballroom is quiet againâbut not haunted.
The truth has been legally confirmed. The bride is taken away peacefully, without chaos. No sensational collapseâjust consequence.
The groom later visits the maid at a small café near the city edge.
No grand romance.
No forced destiny.
Just a calm conversation between two people bound by one moment of truth.
And for the first time in a long whileâ
the groom smiles.
