Chapter 1: The Girl the Vault Chose

The golden light didn’t just shine—it breathed.
It pulsed outward like a living thing, wrapping around the little girl’s fragile frame as if recognizing her presence. The laughter in the hall died completely, replaced by a suffocating silence.
The man in the grey suit slowly stood up, his confident smile gone.
“What… what did she do?” someone whispered.
The vault door groaned open wider, revealing not stacks of gold bars or bundles of cash—but something far stranger.
Inside, resting alone on a pedestal, was a small, intricately carved wooden box.
The girl stepped forward without hesitation.
“No!” the security guard barked, rushing toward her. “Step away from—”
The moment he crossed the threshold—
The lights flickered violently.
Every alarm in the building screamed to life.
And then suddenly—
Everything went dark.

The girl reached out… and touched the box.
