When the lights returned, the girl was still standing there.
But she wasn’t alone anymore.
Behind her, reflected faintly in the vault’s golden light, stood the shadow of a woman.
Tall. Still. Watching.
The girl clutched the wooden box to her chest.
“She’s here…” she whispered.
The bank manager stumbled forward, pale and shaking. “That vault hasn’t opened in twenty years.”
The grey-suited man snapped, “What’s inside that box?”
The manager hesitated… then said a name no one expected.
“Elara Vance.”
The room shifted.
Even the wealthiest guests exchanged uneasy glances.
“That’s impossible,” one woman muttered. “She died.”
The girl slowly turned around.
Her voice was no longer trembling.
“She didn’t die.”

The temperature in the room dropped.
“She was forgotten.”
