Chapter 7 - The Medical Evidence

Dr. Aris Thorne arrived at the hospital in less than twenty minutes.

He carried a worn black medical bag and a deeply serious expression.

Mark met him at the elevator bank and quickly explained the dire situation.

They walked briskly down the corridor toward room 412.

David stood guard outside the heavy wooden door.

He nodded grimly as the doctor and Mark passed into the private suite.

Sarah was sitting up slightly, her eyes still red and swollen from crying.

Dr. Thorne approached the bed with a gentle, calming presence.

"Hello, Sarah, I am here to help you," he said in a soothing voice.

He carefully pulled back the heavy white blanket to reveal her legs.

The trauma surgeon examined the dark, overlapping bruises with intense professional scrutiny.

He took several high-resolution photographs with a specialized medical camera.

"These are absolute textbook defensive wounds," Dr. Thorne stated firmly.

"The distinct parallel lines suggest a rigid object, like a cane or a heavy rod."

Mark felt his stomach churn with violent, sickening anger.

His mother always carried a solid oak walking stick with a silver handle.

"Can you document that this was definitively not a fall?" Mark asked.

"Without a shadow of a doubt," Dr. Thorne replied, packing up his equipment.

"I will write the official medical affidavit right now."

Just as he finished his sentence, the heavy wooden door burst open.

Eleanor's legal team had finally arrived.
