I woke up to the sound of quiet crying.
Caleb was beside me, holding my hand like it was the only thing anchoring him to reality.
“The baby…” I whispered.
His eyes filled instantly—but he smiled.
“She’s okay,” he said. “You’re both okay.”
Relief hit me so hard it hurt.
“What happened?” I asked.
He hesitated.
Then leaned closer.
“You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
