Chapter 1: The Breaking Point

Daniel’s voice echoed through the marble hall, sharp and unyielding. “No one touches her.”

The room froze.

His mother slowly placed the fruit back onto the crystal plate, her expression unreadable. “You’re raising your voice… at me?” she asked, her tone calm but laced with danger.

Daniel didn’t respond. Instead, he gently lifted his fiancée into his arms. She trembled against him, clutching his jacket as if it were her only safety.

“We’re leaving,” he said.

But before he could take a step, his mother’s voice cut through the air like a blade.

“If you walk out that door with her… don’t bother coming back.”

Daniel paused—just for a second.

Then he kept walking.

Behind him, the sound of a glass shattering rang out.
