Chapter 3: The Game of Power

The next day, Daniel returned to the mansion alone.
His mother sat in the same place, as if nothing had happened.
“You came back,” she said, a faint smile forming. “I knew you would.”
“I didn’t come back for you,” Daniel replied coldly. “I came back for the truth.”
Her smile faded.
Daniel placed a small recording device on the table and pressed play.
Her own voice filled the room:
“Once she’s gone, everything will fall into place.”
For the first time, her composure cracked.
“You’ve been careless,” Daniel said. “And now… you’re exposed.”
She stood up slowly, her eyes narrowing. “You think this changes anything? Everything here—this house, this company—belongs to me.”
Daniel shook his head.
“No,” he said quietly. “Not anymore.”
At that moment, the front doors opened.
Lawyers. Police. Witnesses.
And behind them…
The maid.
