The house that once felt untouchable now felt… small.

Fragile.

Diane sank into her chair.

“This can’t be happening,” she muttered.

Jessica quietly grabbed her purse.

“I… I think I should go,” she said.

No one stopped her.

Brendan looked at me again—desperate now.

“Cassidy… please,” he said. “We can fix this.”

I tilted my head.

“Fix what?”

“Our marriage—our family—”

I let out a quiet breath.

“You lost that long before tonight.”

His voice cracked. “I didn’t know—”

“That’s exactly the problem,” I said. “You never cared enough to know.”

Arthur glanced at me. “Legal proceedings are ready when you are.”

I nodded.

“Do it.”
