CHAPTER 2: THE EVIDENCE THAT DESTROYED THEM

“Lock the doors,” my father ordered.
The security team moved instantly.
Santiago straightened, forcing confidence back into his voice. “You can’t just walk into my house and—”
“Your house?” one of the attorneys interrupted, placing a folder on the table. “You might want to reconsider that statement.”
Papers slid across the marble.
Property transfers.
Debt contracts.
Default notices.
My father spoke calmly. “Every asset you own is leveraged through Grupo Salazar.”
Santiago’s hands shook as he flipped through the pages.
“No… that’s not possible…”
“Oh, it is,” the attorney said. “And as of tonight, those debts have been called.”
Beatriz stepped forward, her composure cracking. “This is absurd. You have no proof of—”
“Proof?” my father repeated.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone.
And pressed play.
The room filled with Santiago’s voice.
Threats.
Insults.
Violence.
Every word he had ever used to break me… now echoed back to destroy him.
Beatriz staggered.
May you like
Santiago went silent.
“You were saying?” my father asked.
