CHAPTER 4: A NEW BEGINNING

Three weeks later, I stood in a hospital room filled with sunlight.

The air smelled clean.

Peaceful.

Safe.

My father stood beside me, quieter now, gentler than I remembered.

“I should have come sooner,” he said.

I shook my head. “I needed to see the truth for myself.”

He nodded, though regret still lingered in his eyes.

That was when the doctor entered.

“It’s time.”

Hours later…

A cry filled the room.

Strong.

Alive.

Perfect.

They placed my son in my arms, and everything else—the fear, the pain, the past—faded away.

“Hello, my love,” I whispered.

My father wiped his eyes quietly.

“What will you name him?” he asked.

I smiled.

“Mateo.”

May you like

A new life.

A new legacy.
