Chapter 3: Where He Belongs

The next morning, Ethan returned to the same spot outside the gates.

Same jacket.

Same careful posture.

But this time
 he wasn’t alone for long.

A car pulled up—not a flashy one, not like the others.

The teacher stepped out.

She walked straight to him.

“I spoke with the school,” she said. “And with someone else.”

Ethan looked up, unsure.

“You can start today.”

He blinked.

“What?”

“You belong here,” she said simply.

Before he could respond, another door opened behind her.

The rich kid stepped out of the back seat—his father still inside, watching quietly.

The boy walked up, a little awkward, a little unsure.

“I told my dad,” he said. “About yesterday.”

Ethan didn’t speak.

“He said
if someone wants to learn, they should get the chance.”

He reached into his bag again—but this time, he didn’t hesitate.

He handed Ethan a new sandwich.

And a small paper bag.

“Extra,” he said.

Ethan looked at it.

Then at him.

“
thank you.”

It was the first time he said it out loud.

The teacher smiled faintly.

Not because everything was fixed.

But because something had begun.

Final Scene (Closing Image):

Ethan walks through the academy gates.

Not rushed.

Not afraid.

Just
 steady.

The rich kid walks beside him—not ahead.

Not behind.

For once, they move at the same pace.

And in Ethan’s hands—

He still holds a sandwich.

May you like

But this time

It isn’t the only thing he has.
