The second itinerary changed the timeline again.
Rachel had received it accidentally when Killy forwarded a bundle of travel confirmations to the office printer queue.
The page showed Ethan on a different return flight from the one Nora had booked.
His original plan had been to fly home with Nora after seven days.
The second itinerary showed Ethan returning with Killy after twelve.
The extra five days were booked months earlier.
Nora read the page twice.
"He was never planning to come home with me."
Dana corrected her gently.
"We know he had another ticket. We do not yet know what he intended to do with yours."
Nora understood the legal caution.
Emotionally, the answer felt obvious.
Ethan had built two versions of the same trip.
One for his wife.
One for Killy.
The airport confrontation had been designed to decide which version became real.
Rachel explained that Killy often spoke about the honeymoon as if it were a deadline.
"She said everything would be different after the trip."
"Different how?"
"She never told me."
Nora looked at the handwritten checklist again.
N leaves airport.
E confirms transfer.
There were other lines Rachel could now enlarge from the photograph.
"Access form active."
"North Harbor balance cleared."
"Nora calls family - E controls narrative."
Dana went completely silent at the last line.
Nora felt something hotter than anger.
It was the shock of seeing her emotional reactions predicted as logistics.
Her leaving.
Her calling family.
Her being described as unstable or controlling.
Every response had apparently been assigned a place in the plan.
"They thought they knew exactly what I would do," Nora said.
Rachel looked ashamed on behalf of people who were not there.
"Killy said you always tried to keep things private."
Nora stared at the hotel lobby carpet.
That part was true.
She had spent years believing dignity meant silence.
Ethan may have mistaken that for weakness.
Dana asked Rachel whether Killy had ever discussed the company directly.
Rachel nodded.
"She said Ethan was going to have enough authority to build something separate."
"North Harbor?"
"Maybe. She used the phrase clean start."
Nora remembered Ethan saying almost the same thing about the honeymoon.
A fresh start.
Maybe he had never meant the marriage.
After the meeting, Dana advised Nora to make no public statements and no accusations beyond verified facts.
The independent review team would handle the business records.
Nora agreed.
Then she did something more difficult.
She called her family.
Lucas, her mother, and two cousins joined a video call.
Nora told them the simplest version.
Ethan had traveled with Killy.
A suspicious transfer request had been blocked.
A disputed authorization form had been found.
An independent review was underway.
She did not describe every photograph or every humiliating detail.
She did not need to.
Her mother cried quietly.
Lucas became angry.
Nora stopped him before he could say what he wanted to do.
"Do not contact Ethan."
"He planned this."
"Maybe."
"Nora, the checklist literally has your name on it."
"And that is why professionals are reviewing it."
Her mother looked at her through the screen.
"What do you need from us?"
Nora thought about the question.
For years, she had needed people to believe her marriage was fine.
Now she needed something else.
"Do not defend me publicly."
Lucas frowned.
"What?"
"If Ethan tells people a story, let him."
"Why?"
Nora looked at Dana's folder on the table.
"Because every time he tries to make this about my reaction, he gives us another record of what he is avoiding."
That evening, Ethan did exactly what she expected.
He posted a vague message on a private social account visible to friends and colleagues.
"Sometimes the person you trust most reveals who they are when money is involved."
He did not name Nora.
He did not need to.
Within an hour, three mutual friends messaged her.
Nora did not respond.
Then Ethan sent her a direct text.
"Are you really going to let your lawyer turn our marriage into a business investigation?"
Nora read it and typed back one sentence.
"The business investigation began when company money entered the story."
His reply came instantly.
"You have no idea what you are doing."
Nora set the phone down.
Dana had said not to argue.
She did not.
Ten minutes later, Priya called.
The independent review team had recovered an email from Ethan to Caleb Ross sent the night before the airport trip.
Dana placed the two itineraries side by side and highlighted every difference in departure time, return date, and passenger reference.
The pattern was too organized to dismiss as a last-minute travel change.
One booking had been paid through the household card Nora monitored.
The other had been charged through an expense account connected to a company project.
Nora asked whether that meant company money paid for Killy's trip.
Dana said the review team would have to determine the exact source and business purpose before anyone made that claim.
The caution frustrated Nora for half a second.
Then she recognized why it mattered.
Ethan had built his defense on blurred lines.
She would not defeat that strategy by blurring more lines herself.
She wrote the two booking numbers in her notebook and added one sentence beneath them.
Do not assume what can be proven.
The sentence became her rule for the rest of the week.
It also made Ethan's recovered email far more powerful when Priya called.
The words did not require interpretation.
They described a window, and the date of that window was the exact morning Nora was supposed to board the honeymoon flight.
It contained only one line.
"Tomorrow she either boards with me or gives me the window we need."
