Sirens.
Someone had already called.
Diane grabbed Mark’s arm. “Say something!”
Mark looked around the room.
At the guests.
At the phones recording.
At Emily—no longer silent.
“You’re overreacting,” he muttered weakly.
Emily stepped forward.
“For two years,” she said, her voice steady now, “I thought I was losing my mind.”
She looked at Diane.
“You told me I was sensitive.”
At Mark.
“You told me I deserved it.”
Then at everyone.
“But today… you said it out loud.”
Mark swallowed.
Robert’s voice cut through like a blade. “And now you’ll answer for it.”
The front door burst open.
