The tension in the boardroom could slice glass.

My father sat at the far end of the table, trying to reclaim authority he no longer had.

“You manipulated this company,” he snapped.

I placed the documents in front of him.

“No,” I corrected. “I saved it.”

One by one, board members spoke.

Not for him.

For me.

“Under Natalie’s leadership, profits increased 240%.”

“She eliminated all litigation risk.”

“She owns 62% controlling interest.”

My father’s hands trembled.

“You went behind my back.”

“You stopped looking,” I said softly.
