“So you raised me?” Sofia whispered.
“No,” he said quietly. “I hid you. Gave you to someone who owed me a favor. I made sure you were safe… but far away from everything.”
Sofia’s world shattered and reformed all at once.
“You took everything from me,” she said. “My family. My life. My identity.”
Marcus nodded.
“I know,” he said. “And I’ve been living with that every day.”
Justice came swiftly.
Marcus Hale was taken into custody, along with others connected to the conspiracy. The truth, buried for two decades, finally came to light.
