Chapter 1: The Footage That Changed Everything

The first person to break the silence wasn’t Marcus.

It was Elaine.

Her trembling hand pointed toward the shattered glass, the overturned table, the unmistakable violence frozen in place.

“No,” she whispered, backing away. “No… that’s not what I saw.”

Marcus didn’t respond. His eyes never left Khloe.

She was trying to breathe.

Trying to stay conscious.

One hand clutched her stomach as if sheer will alone could protect their child.

And something inside him—something cold, controlled, and terrifying—snapped into place.

“Call the emergency team,” he said quietly.

Not loud.

Not emotional.

Just final.

Isabella stepped forward, desperate now. “Marcus, she—”

“Stop talking.”

Two words.

Sharp enough to cut through steel.

The door burst open again.

Medical staff rushed in, followed closely by a man in a gray suit, his expression unreadable.

Khloe’s uncle.

Victor Hale.

He didn’t ask questions.

He didn’t panic.

His eyes moved once across the room—and he understood everything.

“Seal the floor,” Victor said to security behind him. “No one leaves.”

Isabella froze.

“What? You can’t—”

Victor finally looked at her.

“You’ve already done enough.”

Minutes later, the security room lit up.

Multiple angles.

Clear audio.

No ambiguity.

They watched Isabella shove Khloe.

Again.

And then the kick.

No one spoke when the footage ended.

But the silence this time…

May you like

was not confusion.

It was judgment.
