“General Walker,” someone breathed.
His eyes swept the room once before landing on Nora.
Not the chief.

Benjamin straightened. “Sir, this is a hospital matter. This nurse has violated—”
“She just saved my grandson’s life.”
Silence.
Total. Crushing. Silence.
Benjamin blinked. “Your… grandson?”
Walker stepped forward, placing a firm hand on the child’s stretcher. “And the woman you just struck…” His gaze hardened. “...is Dr. Nora Whitfield.”
A ripple spread through the room.
Doctor?
Benjamin’s expression cracked.
“She’s the lead trauma specialist who trained half the military’s combat surgeons,” Walker continued. “Including you.”
The words hit harder than the slap.
Benjamin staggered back half a step.
“No… that’s not possible.”
Nora finally looked at him.
Calm.
Unshaken.
“You never asked,” she said.

And in that moment, Benjamin realized something terrifying—
He had just humiliated the one person who had built his career from the ground up.
