Chapter 1: The Doctor’s Silence

The corridor fell into a suffocating silence.
The doctor didn’t speak immediately. His gloved fingers hovered over the torn silicone, eyes narrowing—not in confusion, but in realization.
“This…” he said quietly, lifting the edge of the fake belly, revealing the puncture wound more clearly, “…was stabbed with force. Intentional force.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd.
The young woman on the floor—Lina—didn’t cry. She didn’t defend herself. She simply stared at the ceiling, as if she had already accepted whatever came next.
Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Carter, scoffed loudly. “So what? It’s fake! She lied to all of us. She deserves it!”
The doctor turned to her slowly.
“You didn’t know it was fake when you stabbed it.”
