Chapter 2: The Man Behind the Company

Gunfire erupted like thunder.

Andrew moved before the first shot fully echoed. One of Richard’s men dropped before he even realized Andrew had drawn a weapon.

The second fired wildly—but missed.

A flash.

A thud.

Silence.

Andrew didn’t hesitate. He crossed the distance in seconds, grabbing Richard’s wrist and twisting the gun away from Emily’s head. Bone cracked. Richard screamed.

Emily collapsed, gasping as the rope slackened.

“Get her out!” Andrew barked.

Armed officers flooded the building—disciplined, precise, not local police.

Private.

Elite.

They moved like they had done this a hundred times.

Because they had.

Richard staggered back, clutching his broken arm, staring at Andrew in disbelief.

“You’re not… a businessman…”

Andrew stepped closer, eyes cold as winter.

“No,” he said quietly. “I just made you think I was.”

Richard laughed weakly, blood on his teeth. “What are you? Military? Intelligence?”

Andrew paused.

May you like

Then answered.

“I’m what happens when people like you are allowed to exist for too long.”
