When Jasper returned home that evening, the house was dark.
Too quiet.
The closet was half empty.
Hailey’s things were gone.
So was Toby’s crib.
Panic crept in.
He rushed outside.
The black SUV—the symbol of his success—was gone.
In its place stood a man in a suit, holding a tablet.
“Mr. Jasper Cole?” he asked calmly.
“That vehicle was never registered under your name.”
Jasper froze.
“What?”
“It belongs to Robertson Holdings. We’ve repossessed it.”
“No, that’s impossible—that was a wedding gift—”
“Yes,” the man said. “To Ms. Hailey Robertson.”
The name hit like a gunshot.
Robertson.
His mind spiraled.
“No… no, that’s not possible…”
