Chapter 3: The Empire Begins to Crack

Police cars arrived.

Then more.

Within minutes, the street was flooded with flashing lights.

The husband tried to slip away—but one of the suited men blocked his path.

“I wouldn’t,” he said quietly.

The silver-haired man stood and handed the documents to a police officer.

“Everything you need is in there,” he said. “Including evidence of attempted murder.”

The words hit like a bomb.

“Attempted—?!” the mother-in-law gasped.

“She was pushed down a flight of stairs,” he said coldly. “While nine months pregnant.”

The officer’s expression hardened.

Handcuffs clicked.

“No, no—this is a misunderstanding!” the husband shouted as they grabbed him.

But his voice no longer carried power.

Only panic.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed to Elena’s side.

As they lifted her onto a stretcher, her eyes met the silver-haired man’s again.

“Why… are you helping me?” she asked weakly.

He paused.

Then said something that left her stunned.

“Because your father asked me to.”
