Chapter 4: The Past That Was Stolen

At the hospital, everything changed.

Elena lay in a private room, her condition stabilized—but her mind racing.

“My father… is dead,” she said.

The silver-haired man shook his head.

“No,” he replied. “He disappeared.”

He placed a single photograph on the table beside her.

A younger version of himself.

Standing beside a man Elena recognized instantly.

Her father.

“He was my partner,” the man continued. “We built everything together. Until one day… he vanished. Along with millions—and documents that could destroy very powerful people.”

Elena’s breath caught.

“The documents… I found them hidden in a suitcase he left behind,” she said. “I didn’t understand what they meant… until I saw what my husband was doing.”

The man nodded.

“You were never supposed to find them,” he said. “But now that you have… everything is about to change.”

A nurse rushed in.

“Ma’am—your contractions have started.”

Elena’s eyes widened.

“It’s time.”
