CHAPTER 4: PIECES OF A BROKEN FAMILY

Days passed like fragments of a dream.
Rebecca Reed was arrested.
The truth flooded the media.
“A Stolen Child Found at His Own Wedding.”
But for Nathan — for Daniel — the headlines meant nothing.
He sat across from Margaret in a quiet garden.
Neither of them spoke for a long time.
Finally, Margaret reached out slowly.
“I don’t expect you to call me ‘Mom’,” she said softly. “You’ve had a life. A different one.”
Nathan looked at her, his eyes filled with confusion, pain… and something else.
Hope.
“I don’t know who I am anymore,” he admitted.
Margaret nodded. “Then we’ll figure it out together.”
Tears filled both their eyes.
Across the garden, Emily watched.
Her heart still ached.
But she smiled faintly.
May you like
