CHAPTER 1: THE MAN WITHOUT A DOOR

Marcus stood frozen in the center of the lobby, surrounded by a world that no longer recognized him.
“Fix this,” he snapped, shoving his keycard into the reader again.
Red light.
Again.
Red.
Again—
Nothing.
The receptionist who once greeted him with rehearsed warmth now avoided his eyes. The guards who once opened doors for him now stood like statues—silent, unmoved.
“Do you know who I am?” Marcus barked.
One of them finally spoke.
“Yes, sir.”
A pause.
“But not anymore.”
The words landed harder than any slap.
Marcus turned, searching for control—any control—but the hotel had already erased him. His office? Locked. His accounts? Frozen. His authority? Gone.
And somewhere outside…
Isabella was still standing.

Watching.
Waiting.
