CHAPTER 2: THE WOMAN WHO WAITED

Isabella didn’t rush.

Power never rushes.

She stood beneath the glow of the hotel lights, her silhouette calm against the chaos unfolding inside. People were beginning to gather—staff whispering, guests filming, rumors spreading like wildfire.

Her phone buzzed again.

Another message.

Board vote completed. You are reinstated.

She closed her eyes for a moment.

Not out of relief.

Out of clarity.

For years, she had been the invisible force behind Marcus’s rise—the strategist, the stabilizer, the one who quietly fixed every reckless move he made.

And he had mistaken her silence for weakness.

A black car pulled up beside her.

The driver stepped out.

“Miss Isabella,” he said respectfully. “They’re ready for you.”

She gave the hotel one last look.

Then stepped forward.
