The tablet lit up.

Transactions.

Accounts.

Shell companies.

Forged signatures.

Every detail—precise, undeniable.

Evangelina scoffed at first.

“This is ridiculous,” she snapped. “Do you know who we are?”

“Yes,” the investigator replied calmly. “That’s exactly why we’re here.”

The room shifted.

Cousins stopped pretending.

Renata’s name.

Attached to accounts she never opened.

Debts she never agreed to.

Crimes she never committed.

“You used me,” she said quietly.

“For nine months, you used my name to protect yourself.”

Alonso stepped closer.

“You don’t understand how this works.”

Renata didn’t move.

May you like

“No,” she said.

“I understand perfectly.”
