Chapter 5: A New Beginning

The ballroom doors reopened.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
Elena Voss walked back in—but she was no longer the untouchable social queen they knew.
She held Mara’s hand.
Firmly.
Proudly.
“This evening,” Elena announced, her voice steady but raw, “I made the worst mistake of my life.”
The room held its breath.
“I hurt someone I should have protected. Someone I should have never lost.”
She turned to Mara.
“My sister.”
The word echoed.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
And then—
Elena removed the diamond necklace from her own neck—the symbol of her status—and gently placed it into Mara’s hands.
“Not as payment,” she said softly. “As a promise. That I will never choose a world without you again.”
Mara hesitated… then slowly closed her fingers around it.
Not because of its value.
But because of what it meant.
A second chance.
And this time—
Neither of them would walk away.
Above them, the chandeliers sparkled just the same.
But something had changed.
For the first time that night…
May you like
The light felt warm.
The End.
