CHAPTER 10: The Truth Unleashed

Leah didn’t stop speaking.
Not when the cameras zoomed in.
Not when reporters began shouting questions.
Not even when she saw the first flashes of shock ripple through the crowd.
“We discovered inconsistencies in our financial systems,” she said, her voice unwavering. “And instead of hiding them—we are choosing transparency.”
Behind her, Nathan stood still.
Margaret didn’t move.

“As of this morning,” Leah continued, “all affected accounts have been frozen. An independent investigation is underway. And until we have answers, I will personally oversee every active program to ensure no community is left behind.”
A reporter shouted, “Are you admitting corruption inside your own foundation?”
Leah met his gaze.
“I’m admitting responsibility,” she said.
The room went silent.
Because responsibility—real responsibility—was rare.
“And I promise you this,” she added, her voice stronger now, “we will not protect reputations at the cost of people’s lives.”
That line spread faster than anything else.
