Chapter 2: The Wedding That Wasn’t

Within minutes, everything changed.
The musicians stopped playing the romantic melody and shifted into something colder. Staff moved swiftly, rearranging the aisle, removing floral arrangements meant for vows.
Andrew stepped forward. “Clara, wait. This is going too far.”
She raised her hand, stopping him.
“No, Andrew. This is exactly far enough.”
Patricia regained her voice, stepping forward with forced arrogance. “You think owning a building makes you better than us?”
Clara turned to her slowly.
“No,” she said. “But it does mean you don’t get to humiliate me in my own home.”
A few guests began quietly stepping away from the Whitlock family.
The power had shifted—and everyone could feel it.
Clara addressed the room.
“Thank you all for coming. Today was meant to celebrate love.” Her voice softened slightly. “Instead, it revealed truth.”
She reached up and gently removed her veil.
“And truth deserves witnesses.”
