Chapter 5 - The Lesson Learned
The morning bell echoed sharply across the sprawling campus of the elite private academy.
Julian Trenton, Mason Hayes, and Tyler Carmichael strode through the main courtyard with their usual arrogant swagger.
They expected their usual morning routine of laughing, boasting, and looking down on everyone else.
Instead, they noticed an unusual silence hanging in the air around them.
Students were whispering, pointing, and hastily stepping away as they approached.
Julian frowned, adjusting the collar of his designer sweater.
"What is everyone staring at?" Julian muttered, his voice dripping with annoyance.
Before either of his friends could answer, Julian's cell phone buzzed loudly in his pocket.
He pulled it out, expecting a standard notification from his banking app or a message from his driver.
Instead, a bright red banner flashed across the screen: Account Suspended - Contact Administrator.
Mason pulled out his own phone at the exact same moment, his face turning instantly pale.
"My card just got declined at the campus coffee shop," Mason stammered, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"They said my family trust account no longer exists."
Tyler stared blankly at his own device, where every single social media app and luxury shopping portal logged him out simultaneously.
Panic rippled instantly through the three teenagers.
"This has to be some kind of terrible mistake," Tyler whispered, his hands trembling slightly.
"Call your fathers," Julian ordered, his voice losing all of its previous confidence.
Julian rapidly dialed his father’s direct office line, pressing the phone frantically to his ear.
The line rang three times before an exhausted, defeated voice answered.
"Julian," Arthur Trenton said, his tone heavy with a terrifying finality.
"Dad, what is happening with our accounts?" Julian demanded, panic creeping into his speech.
"Listen to me very carefully, Julian," Arthur interrupted, his voice breaking slightly.
"Your arrogance and cruelty have brought our entire family to total ruin."
"We have lost everything, and it is entirely because of the little girl you mocked yesterday."
Julian froze in his tracks, the blood draining completely from his face.
"The... the girl?" Julian echoed, a cold knot forming in his stomach.
"Her father is a man we should never have crossed," Arthur whispered before abruptly disconnecting the call.
The phone screen went black in Julian's shaking hand.
Across the courtyard, the heavy oak school gates opened.
A sleek black sedan pulled quietly up to the curb.
Elias stepped out of the vehicle, dressed in his sharp black suit, his dark eyes scanning the courtyard until they locked directly onto Julian.
