Chapter 20 - Full Circle

Vincent Corleto passed away peacefully in his sleep on a rainy Tuesday morning.

His funeral was a massive affair, but not in the way one might expect for a former mob boss. The church was not filled with gangsters or politicians. It was filled with single mothers, neighborhood business owners, students on scholarships, and families who had found safety through his foundation.

Sophie stood at the podium to deliver the eulogy. She looked out at the sea of faces, her mother sitting in the front row, holding Marco's hand for support.

"Many people knew Vincent Corleto by his reputation," Sophie began, her voice steady and clear. "But I knew him by his actions. When I was seven years old, my mother and I were drowning in a dark, cruel world. Vincent didn't just pull us out; he taught me how to swim."

She looked down at the polished mahogany casket.

"He taught me that true power is not measured by who you can conquer, but by who you can protect. He was a man of the shadows who ultimately chose the light. Rest in peace, Mr. Vincent. We will take it from here."

As the service ended, the sun broke through the heavy rain clouds, shining brightly over the city they were helping to heal—a lasting legacy born from a single moment of mercy.
