Chapter 11: The Fracture

“You’re making a serious accusation,” Celeste said as she stepped into the room.
Her voice was controlled.
Too controlled.
Dr. Harrow didn’t back down.
“I’m stating a medical concern.”
“You’re implying misconduct.”
“I’m suggesting we verify the treatment plan.”
Celeste’s eyes shifted to Adrian.
“You brought her here without consulting me.”
“I don’t need to consult you anymore.”
“You needed me for the last five months.”
“And now I don’t.”
That landed.
Harder than anything else so far.
Celeste stepped closer.
“You think this ends with a doctor’s opinion?” she asked. “You think that’s enough to dismantle everything?”
“No,” Adrian said. “I think truth is enough.”
Celeste laughed softly.
“That’s naïve.”
Adrian didn’t respond.
Because maybe it was.
But it was still the only thing he was willing to use.
Dr. Harrow moved toward the hallway. “I’m going to examine him.”
Celeste stepped directly into her path.
“No, you’re not.”
Silence fell instantly.
Adrian’s voice cut through it.
“Move.”
Celeste didn’t.
For a second—
No one breathed.
Then Graham spoke, calm and precise.
“I’ve already contacted legal oversight,” he said. “If access is denied under a guardianship order, it constitutes obstruction.”
Celeste turned her head slightly.
“You planned that too?”
“I prepared for resistance,” Graham replied.
Another beat.
Then—
Celeste stepped aside.
Barely.
But enough.
Dr. Harrow passed her without another word.
The fracture had begun.

And this time—
It was visible.
