Chapter 7: The Recording No One Saw

Graham found it buried.

Not in the main system.

Not in the obvious logs.

But in a secondary archive—something flagged, then suppressed.

“Adrian.”

The tone was different.

Adrian crossed the room.

“What is it?”

Graham replayed the clip.

Not the foyer.

Not the staircase.

The bedroom.

Harold sitting upright.

Weaker—but awake.

Lucid.

“…don’t cancel her,” Harold was saying.

The audio was faint—but clear enough.

“I need to talk to her.”

Celeste’s voice followed, smooth, controlled.

“You’re tired.”

“I’m not confused.”

“I didn’t say you were.”

“You’re treating me like I am.”

A pause.

Then:

“You’ll thank me later,” Celeste said softly.

The clip ended.

No resolution.

No follow-up.

Just silence.

Adrian stood very still.

“Timestamp?”

“Three days ago.”

“Why wasn’t this in the main log?”

Graham didn’t hesitate.

“It was removed.”

Adrian nodded once.

“Restore everything.”

“I’m working on it.”

Adrian’s voice dropped.

“This ends now.”
