CHAPTER 5: THE EXIT

Suitcases weren’t thrown.

Voices weren’t raised.

But the message was clear.

One by one, his relatives stood up.

Some muttered. Some avoided looking at him. His mother lingered the longest.

“You’ll regret this,” she said coldly.

He shook his head.

“No,” he replied quietly. “I’ll regret not doing it sooner.”

That was the end of it.

The door closed behind them.
